Donations after Hurricane Ian

Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions donated 960 mop and bucket systems and 600 brooms. A semi-trailer filled with O-Cedar products was sent to Fort Myers Beach, Florida in October to help residents impacted by Hurricane Ian.

This donation from O-Cedar, the U.S. brand of Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions, included 960 O-Cedar Microfiber String Mop and QuickWring Bucket Systems and 600 O-Cedar PowerCorner Outdoor ATB Brooms. These cleaning products were accepted and distributed by #FMBStrong in coordination with the Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation and the Fort Myers Beach Women’s Club.

This initiative was spearheaded by a Freudenberg employee who is based at the North America Corporate Center in Plymouth, Michigan but has a home in Fort Myers, Florida. Margaret Sayles, Corporate Legal, reached out to FHCS inquiring about a potential donation but she never imagined that would turn into a semi-trailer arriving with more than 1,500 products.

When Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida I was there. I saw the massive devastation this storm left behind.

“When Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida I was there. I saw the massive devastation this storm left behind. I thought when I asked for donations from FHCS I would get a few boxes to take down with me on my next trip to distribute to the local community. I was stunned when I found out they were sending a semi filled with products,” said Margaret Sayles.

These donations took several days to reach Florida from the FHCS warehouse in Aurora, Illinois. And when they arrived in Fort Myers Beach, Sayles and her husband were there to greet the truck and help unload the donations.

My hope is providing these products, in coordination with organizations that know how to get them to people most in need, will help alleviate some stress for those who are trying to rebuild their lives right now.

Mark Cieslinski, Regional President of Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions

"What people in southwest Florida are experiencing right now is difficult for many of us to grasp, and that is why we were compelled to send these donations. We have an employee with a home in the area who asked, what can we do? Instantly, I knew we had to do something. My hope is providing these products, in coordination with organizations that know how to get them to people most in need, will help alleviate some stress for those who are trying to rebuild their lives right now," said Mark Cieslinski, Regional President, Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions.
